Project: Roku Photobridge HD1000 Media Player
Scope: User Interface; Graphics
The Roku PhotoBridge model HD1000 was the world's first high definition media player. It displays photos, plays music, and plays high-definition MPEG video. It features a full-color full-resolution user interface.
Starting with an existing product & UI specification, I worked with Roku engineers to refine the HD1000's UI, starting first with a behavioral specification, and later doing graphics for the final product. The entire UI is done with 32-bit raster graphics, which was a rarity in set top box hardware for the time. I also served as a technical producer for the PhotoBridge's first four art packs, supervising the image quality and data integrity throughout production.
Miscellaneous Roku Icons. Note that the various media cards at the top are done to the same scale.
The Photobridge desktop. Actual resolution is 1080p high-definition; however Roku could only provide me with these small screen captures.
